by Brouwerij Van Eecke

Het Kapittel Dubbel has a foaming tan head, sitting atop a dark mahogany body. The head lasts well, and leaves some good lacing on the glass. The smell is subdued, but exhibits roasted caramel malts and sweet dried dark fruits.

The sweet caramel is first noticed. The dark fruit flavour of plums and raisins gives the taste good depth. As the flavours develop, there is a slight spicy tingle and a little warmth.

There is a good balance of flavours, making this extremely easy to drink. It’s a good example of the classic Belgian Dubbel style.
