by Brouwerij De Dool

A smooth full-flavoured strong dark ale from one of Belgium's many small family breweries.

The Double Dark was originally brewed as a Christmas beer of 6.6%, but was so popular it was promptly adopted as a regular in the range.  A dark brown beer, with a frothy off-white head.  It has in inviting aroma full of sweet biscuity malt, dark stone fruits, dried fruit and spices.

The flavour is full, and it seems to drinker bigger than the 7.1% ABV.  There is a nice balance of chocolate and toffee sweetness, subtle roasted flavours, gentle winter spicing with good hop bitterness.  It makes for an overall smooth, easy drinking beer.As is the case for many dark beers, this beer will open up as it warms a little.  Do get it out of the fridge and allow it to sit for 10 minutes to appreciate all it has to offer.
