by Brouwerij Slaapmutske

The Slaapmutske Bruin is dark amber in colour, with a dense off-white head.  An enticing sweet aroma is offered with hints of dark stone fruits and bready malts.

The flavour captures the aroma and delivers sweet dark and caramel malt, prunes and figs.  The gentle bitterness and spicing with coriander then come through to balance out the sweetness really well, and at the same time drying out the mouthfeel a little.

It is a very smooth drinking beer, with a nice earthy and sweet aftertaste.

An interesting name:  brewer Dany described the task of coming up with a name for his new brewery.  He and his wife had just had their first child, and the tradition was that the proud father brewed a beer to share with family and friends that came to congratulate them.  Trying to keep the new baby quiet, the dummy was dipped in Dany's beer a few times.  He noticed that the beer-dipped dummy seemed to have a calming effect on the baby, and knew the name for the brewery.  Slaapmutske translates to 'sleeping cap', hence the graphic on the label.
