by Browar Funky Fluid

With this beer, we introduce you to one of two new Polish breweries to our portfolio – Browar Funky Fluid!

This brewery is front and centre of the Polish craft beer scene, having launched in late 2018 and being voted Ratebeer’s ‘3rd Best New Brewery in the World’ in 2019.

They are known for their crazy beer styles (think of a Polish version of One Drop), so I might be doing them a slight dis-service by starting with the lager.  But when I visit a new brewery, I always try the lager or pils.

This beer pours slightly lighter in colour than I was expecting, though I note the use of rice flakes in the ingredients list.  The aroma is really pleasant and quite strong for a lager, being really fruity and floral.

The first taste is also inviting, with a clean and crisp malt body, with the citrus fruit and floral hop flavours joining in.  It is light and smooth mid-palate and then a fairly bold dry bitterness emerges right at the end.

The lingering bitterness is probably a little too aggressive, though the dry finish does encourage another taste very quickly and a few sips in you will become accustomed to it.  Light and refreshing, it does its job.
