WARNING: This is an oak-aged sour beer! (Apparently a couple of the previously included sours have taken some members by surprise!)
This beer is a golden bronze, very zesty and alive though the head will settle quickly. The aroma is sharply acidic, green apple and vinegar tartness with some Brett funk.
Starting life as a normal pale ale, it then spends 20 months in oak barrels.
Tart, sour but balanced and moreish. Green apples, lemon, grapefruit and a woody funkiness. The beer has a champagne-like quality, really lifting the palette and sharpening the senses. The alcohol is almost non-existent, and this distinctive sour is just such easy-drinking.
Awards for Petrus Aged Pale: At recent World Beer Awards, this beer has won World’s Best Specialty Pale Ale 2011 and World’s Best Wood-Aged Beer 2012 and 2013.
