Position Vacant

Title: Warehouse all-rounder

Hours: 15-20 hours per week

Start date: ASAP

The International Beer Collector is looking for a new employee.

Based in Newcastle, we have a warehouse in Islington, affectionately known as ‘The Beer Shed’ to our local members and customers.

We are a small family business and workload ebbs and flows depending on the season and the arrival of shipping containers.   Our business has been in steady growth for several years now so we are looking for a regular extra set of hands.

First and foremost we are looking for someone trustworthy, teachable and flexible.

The core duties are:

  1. Lots of labelling!  Most of this is done inside the cool room, every bottle that leaves our business must be labelled.   While this is a mundane aspect of the job, the attention to detail is paramount.  There are different labels for different beers. Many of our beer labels are in Dutch, French or other foreign languages so you must have the ability to pick up subtle differences in beers from the same brewer that might appear similar at first glance.
  2. Collating and packing orders to go all over Australia.  This ranges from making up palletised orders for our bigger wholesale customers, to individual orders of 6-packs for our retail customers.
  3. Delivering to local Newcastle customers as well as Central Coast and Sydney on occasion.

Must haves:

  • Full drivers licence, be confident driving a manual vehicle and happy finding your way around Sydney (using Sat-Nav of course!)
  • Be physically fit, comfortable lifting and packing cartons of beer and moving kegs around.  Our kegs are the 20L or 30L disposable kind.
  • Interest and knowledge in craft beer.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good people skills, with the ability to interact with people at all levels.
  • PC proficient, able to use Excel, Word, Outlook and ability to learn inventory software.
  • Be able to problem solve, not just identify problems.

Desirable:

  • The ability to be flexible giving extra when needed but also enjoy the advantages when it’s quiet
  • Current NSW RSA (if you don’t currently have, you must be willing and able to get this later on)
  • Any skills in sales, social media or photography!

As a small business we value all-rounders, so any skills you bring to the table beyond being able to do the key duties listed is an asset to our business.

If you’re a keen learner who prides yourself on your work ethic and loves the beer industry then you might be our person.  If you think you might get a bit chilly in a cool room after a few hours and can’t push through that during busy times, it’s probably not the job for you.

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT MEET ALL OF THE 'MUST HAVE' CRITERIA

HOW TO APPLY
